Trust is peace of mind

Ted and Leslie from California came to us with a single word that had already taken root in their lives: ΧΧΧΧΧ, Bitachon. It is one of the middot, a quality that is practiced and developed over time. It carries meanings of trust, confidence, and a sense of inner safety, though for them it had become something lived rather than defined.
Their stories approached this idea from different directions. Leslie described it as a way of moving through life with the understanding that things will find their place, even when they feel uncertain. Ted spoke about a period when that sense was absent, when everything collapsed inward and left him without direction, and how, over time, Bitachon became something he began to understand through experience rather than study.
When their lives came together, this quality became part of the foundation they were building. It shaped how they related to each other and how they moved through change, holding a sense of trust that extended beyond any single moment.
In developing the piece, the focus turned toward this inner movement. Bitachon was approached as a way of shaping experience, as a shift in how the world is encountered and understood. The form begins in a contained space, where warmth and light gather at the center, and gradually extends outward along the arm, following the natural direction of the body toward the hand, where interaction with the world takes place.
The movement suggests a passage from contraction into openness, from holding on into allowing, reflecting a shift in experience rather than in circumstance.
For Ted and Leslie, the piece holds that process. It reflects a path that unfolded over time, shaped by difficulty, connection, and the gradual recognition of something steady beneath it all.
