Zoe from NYC had a pretty straightforward request: her sister’s name, in a simple yet elegant design, inspired by her sister’s passion for ballet. She and David exchanged a few emails about the etymology of the names, figuring out they were both Yiddish.

Etymology is fun and often challenging but above all, it matters for the correct transliteration. Words are often spelled differently in Hebrew and Yiddish [and Aramaic]. That’s why David and I have worked together for years.
