Go forth from your land, your birthplace, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you

Danny came to us with a vision shaped by memory, movement, and a name that carries its own roar. The image of the lion felt natural to him, a nod to his Hebrew name Ariel, and a symbol of strength that walks beside him through joy and grief alike.

The words that were chosen are from Genesis:

לך לך מארצך Χ•ΧžΧžΧ•ΧœΧ“Χͺך Χ•ΧžΧ‘Χ™Χͺ ΧΧ‘Χ™Χš אל הארΧ₯ אשר אראך

Go forth from your land, your birthplace, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.

It is a verse about journeying into the unknown, about letting go of what formed you in order to find what awaits, about trusting that where you are called is not just geographical but spiritual. Danny had known loss, but he also stood at the edge of new beginnings, waiting to welcome another child into the world, and so this piece became about both holding on and letting go.

Gabriel envisioned a lion in motion, powerful yet unfinished, its lines marked with raw ink textures, splatters, and streaks that make the process visible, as if the form is still arriving, still becoming.

This piece is about choosing to move forward while carrying everything that came before. It is about living in the tension between pain and hope, between permanence and change.
